MEA responds as Trudeau admits lack of proof against India

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau testified before the Commission of Inquiry into foreign interference. Acknowledging that his government had provided only intelligence, not concrete evidence, regarding allegations against India. Trudeau stated that while Canada alleged the involvement of Indian agents. In the 2022 killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar, they had no “hard evidentiary proof” to substantiate these claims. He said there were “clear indications” that Indian officials had violated Canadian sovereignty. Sparking a major diplomatic dispute between the two countries.

In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reiterated its position. Stating that Trudeau’s testimony only reinforced New Delhi’s long-held stance. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized that Canada had consistently failed to provide any evidence to support the serious accusations made against India and its diplomats. The Indian government had earlier dismissed these claims, stating that no proof had been presented to justify the allegations.
