A 16-year-old boy in Gurugram allegedly strangled a nine-year-old girl to death at her home after she caught him stealing her mother’s jewelry. He had initially visited under the pretense of helping her with homework. After committing the murder, he attempted to set her body on fire using naphthalene balls, in a chilling effort to mimic a true-crime TV show cover-up. This shocking incident has left residents of their middle-class housing society and the investigating police officers deeply disturbed.

In Gurugram, a 9-year-old girl caught a 16-year-old boy stealing her mother’s jewelry when he visited her house under the pretext of helping with her homework, officers reported. Authorities apprehended the boy on Monday morning. They registered this case as the first under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in Gurugram. They presented the suspect before the juvenile justice board and sent him to an observation home.

The boy’s mother and the victim’s mother, both living in an apartment complex in Sector 107 on Dwarka Expressway, knew each other, police said.
