UK and France Agree on Post-War Security Role in Ukraine
The UK and France have agreed in principle to deploy troops to Ukraine if a peace deal is reached with Russia, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said after high-level talks in Paris. Through a declaration of intent, both countries plan to establish military hubs across Ukraine to deter any future aggression, while French President Emmanuel Macron said the deployment could involve thousands of troops. The proposal forms part of wider efforts by Ukraine’s allies to provide long-term security guarantees, with the United States expected to take the lead in monitoring any ceasefire.
