Trump Rejects Iran’s Ceasefire Response

Iran has responded to the latest American ceasefire proposal through Pakistani mediators, but US President Donald Trump quickly rejected the response and called it “totally unacceptable.” Tehran reportedly wants negotiations to focus on permanently ending the war across all fronts, including conflicts involving Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran also seeks guarantees for secure maritime trade routes in the Gulf region. However, Trump dismissed the proposal without providing detailed reasons.

The latest American proposal reportedly included plans to end hostilities, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and limit Iran’s nuclear activities. Trump accused Iran of “playing games” with the United States for decades and warned Tehran against delaying negotiations further. Meanwhile, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz stated that Washington still wants to give diplomacy every possible chance before considering renewed military action.

At the same time, tensions across the Gulf region continue to rise. A drone attack caused a fire on a cargo ship near Qatar, while the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait reported drones entering their airspace. UAE officials claimed they intercepted and destroyed two drones and blamed Iran for the incident. No casualties were reported, and no group immediately claimed responsibility. Qatar described the attack as a dangerous escalation that threatens maritime trade and regional stability.

Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei has reportedly ordered military commanders to continue operations and confront enemies strongly. Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guard warned that any attack on Iranian oil tankers would trigger heavy retaliation against American bases and ships in the region. The United States has also increased pressure by blockading Iranian ports and targeting vessels accused of violating restrictions.

Another major dispute involves Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile. International agencies estimate that Iran possesses more than 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to near weapons-grade levels. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the conflict cannot end until Iran’s uranium reserves are removed. Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin has renewed Moscow’s proposal to take custody of Iran’s enriched uranium to support future negotiations.
