Narendra Modi Tells SCO Leaders, Including Pakistan PM: No Double Standards on Terror

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the plenary session of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Summit in Tianjin, China. He called on member states to unite against terrorism, stressing that it threatens the whole of humanity, not just individual nations. Modi declared that double standards on the issue of terror are unacceptable and undermine collective security. Referring to the April 22 Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians lost their lives, he emphasized that peace, stability, and security must remain the foundation for sustainable development.

Narendra Modi Highlights India’s Response to Pahalgam Attack

Highlighting India’s determination, Modi recalled that the Pahalgam terror strike had direct links with Pakistan-based outfits. India responded with Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. These strikes neutralized several key bases, leading to a brief conflict involving drones and missiles between both nations. The clashes lasted four days before Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations approached India seeking a pause in hostilities. Modi stressed that the response demonstrated India’s firm resolve against terrorism and its sponsors.

India’s Stand and SCO’s Role

Modi reaffirmed that India has consistently fought global terror groups like Al-Qaeda and stood against terror-financing. He urged the SCO to play a stronger role in promoting regional stability and international peace. He also thanked friendly nations that supported India during challenging times, reiterating that unity is essential for defeating terrorism. Modi underlined that SCO must enhance cooperation among its member states to eliminate terror networks and ensure long-term security.
