Lt. Col. Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran Khatam Al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, directly questioned Donald Trump over his claims of ongoing negotiations. In a prerecorded video aired on state television, Zolfaghari asked whether Trump was “negotiating with himself.” He made these remarks amid escalating tensions following days of drone and missile exchanges. The statement added to the growing war of words between both sides.
Zolfaghari criticized Trump’s assertions about ceasefire talks, calling them misleading and ineffective. He stated that the “strategic power” often referenced by Trump had turned into a “strategic failure.” He also dismissed any attempt to present the situation as a diplomatic success. According to him, the United States could have resolved the crisis already if it truly had control.

Iran reiterates firm stance: rejects ceasefire proposal
The Iranian spokesperson firmly rejected reports of a proposed ceasefire plan reportedly sent by the Trump administration via Pakistan. He emphasized that Iran’s stance has remained unchanged since the beginning of the conflict. Zolfaghari stated that Iran would never agree to terms with the United States under any circumstances. He reinforced this position by saying, “Not now, not ever.”
Earlier, Zolfaghari drew global attention after releasing a video in which he mocked Trump using the phrase, “You are fired.” He deliberately switched to English mid-speech, referencing Trump’s well-known catchphrase. The clip quickly went viral across social media platforms. This came shortly after Trump announced a temporary pause in hostilities, claiming progress in talks that Iran denied.
Zolfaghari also issued strong warnings regarding potential regional escalation. He said Iran could target energy, infrastructure, and ICT systems linked to its adversaries. He added that regions hosting U.S. bases and companies with American ties could face serious consequences. Additionally, he clarified that the Strait of Hormuz remains under Iran’s control, allowing regulated passage while safeguarding national interests.
