Tamil Nadu rains: Schools closed in Madurai, Tiruchi Friday

Heavy rains continued to batter parts of Tamil Nadu on Friday, December 13, 2024, prompting District Collectors in several areas to declare a holiday for schools. Among the affected districts, Madurai and Mayiladuthurai were at the forefront of issuing precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students.

Madurai District Collector, M.S. Sangeetha, announced the school holiday early in the day, citing persistent heavy rainfall and the potential for disruptions. Similarly, A.P. Mahabharathi, the District Collector of Mayiladuthurai, also declared a holiday for schools in the district due to the ongoing downpour. These measures were taken to prioritize the well-being of children and prevent any untoward incidents.

Tamil Nadu Districts on Rain Alert

In addition to Madurai and Mayiladuthurai, other districts across Tamil Nadu have been closely monitoring the weather situation and may consider similar steps based on local conditions.
