Rajasthan under heatwave red alert today, What about Delhi? Check IMD weather forecast

Extreme heatwave conditions persist in northwest and eastern India, with Delhi recording its hottest day of the season on Tuesday and parts of Rajasthan suffering under intense heat. Orange and yellow alerts are still active in multiple states as rising temperatures and high humidity continue to cause severe discomfort.

Delhi Scorches at 43.8°C as Monsoon Delays, Orange Alert Issued

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reports that the weakening western disturbances have left behind residual moisture, which has intensified the oppressive heat. With the monsoon yet to reach northwest India, the IMD warns that conditions will worsen in the coming days. On Tuesday, Delhi recorded its highest maximum temperature of the season at 43.8 degrees Celsius, which is 3.6 degrees above the seasonal average. On Monday, the IMD issued an orange alert for Delhi, effective until Wednesday. The department expects the heatwave to persist over the next few days. It has issued a red alert for June 11 and June 12, and an orange alert for June 13 in West Rajasthan.

Heatwave to Continue Till June 12, Light Rain Likely After

The IMD predicts that very hot weather and a heatwave will persist in Delhi until at least June 12. It expects daytime temperatures on Wednesday to hover around 45 degrees Celsius, while nighttime temperatures will remain warm at around 29 degrees. Starting June 12, the IMD forecasts some relief with light rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds between 30 and 40 kmph in parts of Delhi. Meanwhile, a severe heatwave grips western Rajasthan, where temperatures in Ganganagar have soared above 47 degrees Celsius for two consecutive days.
