Moderate rainfall in Vidarbha for next 3-4 days

Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on Monday, predicted moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning for next 3-4 days all over Vidarbha. On Monday, the maximum temperature in most of the places in Vidarbha dipped below 30 degrees.

The day-long drizzling in Nagpur also brought the maximum temperature below normal by 4.5 degrees. On Monday, Nagpur received 23 mm rainfall whereas the city recorded total 48.3 mm rainfall in last 24 hours.

According to Skymet Weather, “Under the influence of persisting cyclonic circulation, maiden low pressure area of monsoon season has formed over wider region covering parts of West Bengal, South Jharkhand and North Coastal Odisha. The cyclonic circulation of the system extends up to mid tropospheric levels.”

Low pressure has dragged the monsoon trough far south of its normal position. Also, there is another cyclonic circulation over the Northwest Arabian Sea. This weather system will be slow moving and likely to shift across central parts of the country, said a statement issued by Skymet Weather.

“For the next 3 days, between July 4 and 6, fairly widespread moderate rainfall with isolated heavy spells can be expected over Vidarbha, Maharashtra, Odisha, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh,” claimed the website.

It also stated that the core rainfed zone of central parts like Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra and Gujarat were running deficit by 30%-35%. This massive wet spell will possibly reduce these margins and may break even in the next 7-10 days.
