The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow alert for Delhi, forecasting light rain and thunderstorms across most districts over the next few hours. The advisory signals that the national capital may experience sudden weather fluctuations, prompting authorities and travellers to stay cautious. IMD’s warning highlights the possibility of intermittent showers, cloudy skies, and brief but intense thunder activity.
As weather conditions shifted through the day, operations at the Delhi airport began to feel the impact. Cloud cover and reduced visibility affected the normal flow of arriving and departing flights, forcing airlines to adjust their schedules. Unstable weather caused ground congestion as officials rescheduled aircraft, triggering a ripple effect across several routes connected to Delhi.
IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, responded quickly to the disruptions. The carrier issued a travel advisory to passengers informing them about possible delays and operational challenges caused by the deteriorating weather. IndiGo emphasized that such conditions were beyond operational control and required real-time adjustments for safety.

IndiGo Tracks Weather, Assures Safe and Smooth Travel
In an update posted on X, IndiGo stated that “bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules” and assured passengers that the airline was actively tracking weather developments. IndiGo emphasized that it was working continuously to minimize inconvenience, prioritizing safe and smooth travel even when conditions were unpredictable. The airline urged all passengers to stay updated by checking their flight status on its official website or mobile application. IndiGo highlighted that real-time updates are essential during uncertain weather conditions, as flight timings may change quickly depending on wind patterns, rain intensity, and airport clearance.
IndiGo helped passengers manage the situation by deploying its ground teams across terminals to offer assistance. The staff handled rebookings, provided guidance, and supported travellers facing delays. The airline emphasized that its teams remained committed to ensuring comfort and safety despite the operational strain.
The advisory also served as a reminder that monsoon-like weather in the pre-summer months can disrupt major aviation hubs such as Delhi. With high passenger volumes and tightly packed schedules, even short periods of bad weather can have extended consequences on flight operations across the country. IndiGo and other airlines have been dealing with frequent weather-related disruptions in recent weeks.
As IMD continues to monitor cloud formation and thunderstorm activity, passengers traveling through Delhi have been advised to plan ahead, leave early for the airport, and stay alert for airline notifications. Both the weather department and airline authorities have emphasized that safety remains the top priority, and temporary delays are necessary to ensure secure operations in such unpredictable weather.
