A yellow alert for a heatwave has been issued for Delhi for Monday and Tuesday. Authorities have advised people to stay out of the sun for extended periods and to remain well-hydrated. On Sunday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 38.2°C, which is about three degrees above the normal for this time of year, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Similar weather conditions have been reported in many other regions of the country, prompting the IMD to issue heat wave warnings for several parts of India.

Intense Heatwave Forecast for Northwest India
The IMD has predicted a heat wave for this week across Northwest India, in parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and more. According to IMD, heat wave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to persist in some parts of Gujarat’s Saurashtra and Kutch, West Rajasthan. In isolated pockets of East Rajasthan, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh will also witness heat wave conditions. In coastal areas, some parts of Gujarat, Konkan and Goa are very likely to witness hot and humid weather.

Severe Heatwave Alert for Rajasthan, North and Central India
Some parts of Rajasthan are very likely to have heat wave to severe heat wave conditions on Tuesday, while isolated pockets of Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness heat wave conditions. Some isolated pockets in Eastern Rajasthan are likely to witness heat wave to severe heat wave conditions on Wednesday, while parts of Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, west UP, west Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh will likely see heat wave conditions.

Red Alert for West Rajasthan; Yellow Alert Issued for Delhi Amid Rising Heat Risks
The IMD has issued a red alert for parts of west Rajasthan on Monday, warning that people may suffer from heat-related illnesses or heat strokes. Authorities urge special care for vulnerable individuals. In the national capital, a yellow alert is in effect for Monday and Tuesday, as prolonged sun exposure or intense physical activity may lead to heat illness symptoms. Officials advise people to avoid heat exposure, stay cool, and drink plenty of water even if they aren’t thirsty to prevent dehydration.
