Delhi weather today: Thunderstorms with rain likely, says IMD; minimum temperature at 18 degrees

The India Meteorological Department predicts that thunderstorms and rain will likely hit Delhi on Thursday, February 27. The minimum temperature will likely be around 18°C. At approximately 9 AM on Thursday, the city recorded a temperature of 21.2°C. The maximum temperature may reach 26°C.

Delhi’s Air Quality Remains Poor; Rainfall Expected Due to Western Disturbance

The Sameer app reported that the capital’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category, with an AQI of 260. An approaching Western Disturbance is expected to bring rainfall to northern India. This system will also likely cause rainfall in Delhi’s neighboring state Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Haryana between February 27 and March 1.

Stable Temperatures Across India, Increased Wind Speed Expected in Delhi

The weather department stated that minimum temperatures across most of India will remain largely unchanged over the next four to five days, except in the Northwest region. In the national capital, wind speed will gradually increase after the morning hours. On Wednesday, Delhi recorded its highest temperature of the season so far, with the maximum reaching 32 degrees Celsius six degrees above the seasonal average, according to the IMD.

Delhi’s Air Quality Remains Poor; Thunderstorms Expected on Friday

The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) recorded Delhi’s air quality index at 247 on Wednesday, categorizing it as ‘poor.’ The AQI scale classifies readings from 0 to 50 as ‘good,’ 51 to 100 as ‘satisfactory,’ 101 to 200 as ‘moderate,’ 201 to 300 as ‘poor,’ 301 to 400 as ‘very poor,’ and 401 to 500 as ‘severe.’ The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts thunderstorms with rain for Delhi on Friday, along with a slight drop of one degree Celsius in the minimum temperature.
