Thunderstorms Bring Relief to Delhi NCR

Thunderstorms are driving a major weather shift in Delhi as an active cyclonic circulation over parts of central Pakistan, northwest Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana moves toward northeast India. This system is influencing current conditions across the region. As it advances from Rajasthan, weather experts say it can trigger thunderstorms along with dust storms and moderate rainfall. These pre-monsoon conditions often bring sudden changes in temperature and wind patterns.

Delhi Sees Thunderstorms, Cooler Weather Ahead

The weather department expects temperatures to remain moderate on Wednesday. The maximum temperature may stay around 38°C, while the minimum may remain close to 27°C. Authorities have issued alerts for thunderstorms and gusty winds, and they are advising residents to stay cautious during sudden weather activity.

In recent days, the city experienced unusually high night temperatures. This led to the season’s first “warm night” conditions, where the minimum temperature stayed 4.5 to 6.4 degrees above normal. At the same time, daytime temperatures crossed or touched the 40°C mark, making conditions uncomfortable for residents.

However, recent rainfall and thunderstorms have brought relief. They have reduced the temperature and improved air quality in the city. The rain has washed away pollutants, leading to cleaner air and better living conditions. This sudden weather shift shows how quickly seasonal systems can influence both temperature and air quality.

Thunderstorms will likely continue to influence weather conditions in the coming days as the cyclonic system moves further across northern India. Residents can expect occasional rain, strong winds, and sudden temperature changes. Authorities may issue more alerts if conditions intensify. People should stay updated with weather forecasts and avoid unnecessary travel during storms. This phase also highlights the importance of preparedness during the pre-monsoon season, when such rapid and intense weather changes are common across the region.
