The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that Cyclone Dana is expected to intensify into a severe cyclonic storm. As it moves northwestwards over the Bay of Bengal by the early hours of October 24. The cyclone is likely to bring heavy rain and strong winds to coastal regions. Prompting preparations for evacuation and disaster management in affected areas.

Odisha is taking extensive measures in response to the cyclone threat. Suresh Pujari, the state’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister. Announced that the government plans to evacuate approximately 10 lakh people to safe cyclone shelters. These shelters will be fully equipped with essential services to accommodate evacuees. The evacuation process is expected to begin in earnest by the evening of October 23, following a Cabinet meeting held to review the situation.
