On Wednesday, an earthquake measuring 4.0 on the Richter Scale shook Jammu and Kashmir. According to the National Center for Seismology, the quake struck the region at 10.10 a.m. Jammu and Kashmir is known to be a seismically active region. According to the report, the earthquake was 10 kilometres deep. As of yet, no deaths or property damage have been reported.
“Earthquake of Magnitude: 4.0, Occurred on 12-04-2023, 10:10:51 IST, Lat: 34.44 & Long: 73.60, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Jammu and Kashmir, India,” the NCS wrote on Twitter.
Bihar quake
Earlier today, a 4.3 magnitude earthquake jolted Bihar. The quake hit the Araria region of the state.
On March 21, strong tremors were felt in Jammu and Kashmir and several other states, including Delhi-NCR, as an earthquake of magnitude 6.6 struck the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan. Following the tremors, people rushed out of buildings in panic. The tremors also jolted Haryana, Punjab and Rajasthan.
