A fresh investigation into the murder of Pune businessman Ketan Agarwal has uncovered new details about the alleged conspiracy behind his death. Police claim that Ketan’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, carefully planned the crime before carrying it out at Lohagad Fort. Investigators allege that Chetan pushed Ketan into a gorge after receiving a signal from Siya. The case, initially treated as an accidental death, has now turned into a high-profile murder investigation. Authorities continue to gather evidence to strengthen the case.

Investigators found that Siya and Chetan reportedly met at a café in Pune on June 17, a day before the incident. CCTV footage allegedly captured the two spending nearly an hour together, prompting police to examine whether they finalized their plan during the meeting. During questioning, both suspects initially blamed each other and denied key allegations. However, after sustained interrogation, police say they admitted their roles in the crime. Officials believe the pair had researched and planned the murder in advance.
According to the investigation, Chetan first claimed he was present at Lohagad Fort but denied being at the exact spot where Ketan fell. Police, however, found inconsistencies in his statement and continued questioning him. Investigators allege that the accused later confessed and described how the incident unfolded. Police believe Ketan remained unaware of the alleged plan until the final moments before he was pushed into the gorge. Both accused now face charges of murder and criminal conspiracy.

The investigation has also uncovered extensive communication between Siya and Chetan before the incident. Police claim the two remained in regular contact for nearly six months and exchanged around 2,004 phone calls, spending approximately 238 hours speaking to each other. Investigators also found that Chetan allegedly left his own mobile phone with an employee, Neeraj Kumar, and carried Neeraj’s phone to Lohagad Fort on the day of the incident. Neeraj has recorded his statement, which police consider an important piece of evidence.
The case has deeply affected both families. Ketan’s father said the family had trusted Siya and never imagined such an outcome, adding that he would continue seeking justice for his son. Siya’s father, despite reportedly suffering a heart attack, stated that whoever committed the crime should receive the strictest punishment, even if it involved his own daughter. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government is likely to form a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to conduct a detailed probe into the murder as the investigation continues.
