X bug blocks Android users from opening shared links

X bug: A major technical issue in the X app is disrupting Android users worldwide, as shared links fail to open correctly and instead redirect users to unrelated sections like their timeline or previously viewed profiles.

Users across multiple regions, including India, have reported that when they tap on shared post links, the app does not take them to the intended content. Instead, the app redirects them to their homepage or a random profile they recently visited, which has made link-sharing almost useless for several days. As frustration continues to grow, many users have actively shared their complaints on platforms like Reddit and X itself, highlighting the scale of the issue.

Moreover, users have tried common troubleshooting steps such as clearing app cache, restarting devices, and reinstalling the application, but these efforts have not resolved the glitch. This situation suggests that the problem likely originates from within the app’s system rather than individual devices.

X bug Disrupts User Experience Globally

X bug has significantly affected user experience, as people rely on shared links for accessing posts, news, and discussions quickly. According to reports from PiunikaWeb, which first identified the issue on April 21, testing confirmed that tapping a shared link repeatedly failed to open the correct post. Instead, the app redirected users to unrelated sections, causing confusion and inconvenience.

Interestingly, one temporary workaround has shown some success. Users who completely close the app from recent applications before tapping the link have managed to open the correct post in some cases. However, this solution does not offer a permanent fix and requires extra effort from users each time they access shared content.

Despite the growing number of complaints and the widespread impact, the platform has not released any official statement or update addressing the issue. This lack of communication has further added to user frustration.

No Official Fix Yet, Users Seek Solutions

X bug continues to remain active globally, including in India, where many Android users still report the same malfunction without any improvement. The absence of an official fix or acknowledgment has raised concerns about how long the issue might persist.

Meanwhile, a senior product executive from X indirectly reacted to the situation by joking about returning to find the platform in chaos, which reflects internal awareness but does not provide users with clarity or solutions. Until the company releases a proper update, users must rely on temporary fixes like force-closing the app.

Ultimately, this ongoing issue raises an important question: how quickly can major tech platforms respond to widespread bugs that directly affect everyday usability?
