Explaining the origin of the name ‘Vyommitra,’ it combines ‘Vyoma’ (space) and ‘Mitra’ (friend) in Sanskrit. This female robot astronaut manages module parameters, issues alerts, and handles life support operations. Its tasks include operating panels and responding to queries.

In preparation for India’s inaugural manned flight ‘Gaganyaan,’ the first Test Vehicle Flight TV D1 validated crew escape and parachute systems on October 21. Singh confirmed that the launch vehicle has been rated for human use and is fully prepared.
