WhatsApp may soon allow use of multiple accounts on one device

WhatsApp provides a variety of functionalities that ensure a smooth and user-centric messaging journey. With features like chat lock and chat transfer, recent additions have enhanced the app’s ease of use. Nonetheless, there are certain capabilities that WhatsApp users anticipate for inclusion on the platform. A notable example is the capacity to utilize distinct WhatsApp accounts within a single application.

However, soon WhatsApp will fulfil this wish of its users. The Meta owned app is reportedly developing a new feature that will allow users to add and switch between different WhatsApp accounts within the same app, similar to how Meta allows account switching on Instagram and Facebook. Initially reported by Wabetainfo, with this new feature, it will finally be possible to add additional accounts to the same WhatsApp app.

Upcoming WhatsApp Feature to Enable Management of Multiple Accounts on a Single Device

Presently, WhatsApp permits users to utilize a single account on a solitary device. Consequently, individuals managing two distinct WhatsApp accounts associated with separate phone numbers are constrained to either managing two devices or resorting to duplicated WhatsApp applications. Juggling two phones can be cumbersome, especially for those equipped with dual SIM capabilities, while adopting cloned WhatsApp versions may expose them to potential security vulnerabilities. The forthcoming feature is poised to significantly alleviate these challenges for users.

The reports further reveal that the feature is currently available to some beta testers. It will be gradually rolled out to more users in the upcoming weeks. WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.17.8 has been identified as a compatible update, although some users might also be able to access the same feature by installing the previous 2.23.17.7 update.

Seamless Account Management

Once this feature is rolled out, users will gain the capability to incorporate a fresh WhatsApp account simply by tapping the arrow symbol adjacent to the QR code button. Transitioning to an alternate account will be equally effortless within the existing menu. Furthermore, the recently added account will persist on the user’s device until they opt to sign out.

This feature will not only provide users with the convenience of managing multiple accounts. But also help them maintain the integration of private chats, work conversations, and other messages within a single app. Each conversation will also remain separate, accompanied by its individual notifications.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp has recently added a new feature that allows users to transfer all their data to a new phone without relying on backups. Available for both Android and iOS users, the ‘Chat Transfer’ feature enables users to seamlessly switch to a new phone. It has the same operating system using simple steps, without having to depend on Google Drive or Apple backup. However, the platform suggests users create a backup to safeguard chats in case their phone is stolen.
