Microsoft Integrates Harvard Health Data into Copilot
Microsoft plans to release an updated Copilot version as early as this month. The update will include Harvard Health Publishing content. Microsoft will pay Harvard a licensing fee for using its resources. This integration allows Copilot to deliver answers closer to what medical practitioners provide. Combining AI with authoritative health content aims to make Copilot more practical and reliable.
Executive Says Copilot Will Deliver Reliable Health Answers
Dominic King, Vice President of Health at Microsoft AI, told The Wall Street Journal that the company aims for Copilot to deliver answers that align with medical expertise. He emphasized that Microsoft wants the AI to provide accurate, trustworthy guidance rather than generic or potentially misleading information. The partnership with Harvard is expected to strengthen Copilot’s credibility and improve the overall quality of responses in sensitive healthcare areas.
Copilot has largely relied on OpenAI’s models across Microsoft apps like Word and Outlook. Microsoft now uses Anthropic’s Claude and is developing its own AI models. Adding Harvard Health content improves Copilot’s quality while reducing dependence on one provider. This approach diversifies Microsoft’s AI ecosystem and makes Copilot a more robust, credible assistant.
