Andhra Pradesh girl selected for world’s first all-girls lunar CubeSat mission

Andhra Pradesh celebrated a proud achievement after Class X student Kandula Jessie from Dhavaleswaram in East Godavari district earned selection for Mission ShaktiSat, the world’s first all-girls global lunar CubeSat mission. Jessie studies at Zilla Parishad High School and became the only student from Andhra Pradesh among 20 girls selected from across India. Her achievement showcases the growing participation of Indian students in advanced space technology programmes. Moreover, Mission ShaktiSat encourages girls to build careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Jessie earned this opportunity through years of dedication, curiosity, and continuous learning in space science. Consequently, she now inspires students across Andhra Pradesh and the country to pursue ambitious goals in the field of space exploration.

Andhra Pradesh Human Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Nara Lokesh welcomed Jessie at his residence in Undavalli. Mission ShaktiSat Director Srimathy Kesan accompanied the young student during the meeting. The Minister congratulated Jessie on reaching an important milestone at such a young age and praised her commitment to excellence. Furthermore, he appreciated her for representing Andhra Pradesh at the national level and wished her success in the next phase of the mission. The meeting also emphasized the importance of encouraging more girls to participate in scientific research and innovation. As a result, Jessie’s accomplishment highlighted the expanding opportunities available for talented students in India’s growing space sector.

Kandula Jessie becomes the only student from Andhra Pradesh among 20 girls selected nationwide for Mission ShaktiSat

Jessie explained that the Atal Tinkering Lab at her school sparked her interest in science and experimentation. She developed a passion for space science while studying in Class VII and continued strengthening her knowledge through regular learning. Additionally, she completed 550 training sessions across 21 specialised modules under the Mission ShaktiSat programme. The programme equipped her with practical knowledge of satellite technology, engineering principles, and space exploration. Therefore, her determination, discipline, and hard work helped her secure a place among the country’s top participants. Jessie also expressed her excitement about the selection and said the programme had increased her confidence to achieve even greater success.

Jessie said she dreams of becoming an aeronautical engineer and contributing to India’s rapidly growing space sector. He said the State is developing a Space City Cluster as one of its 22 growth clusters to promote innovation and high-technology industries. During the event, he also unveiled the official Mission ShaktiSat poster and encouraged more students to pursue careers in science and engineering. He stated that achievements like Jessie’s prove the immense talent present in government schools. Ultimately, her inspiring journey motivates thousands of young students across India to dream big and build successful careers in the space sector.
