AI-Driven Bharat-VISTAAR Platform Scheduled for Launch Tomorrow

The Centre will launch Bharat-VISTAAR (Virtually Integrated System to Access Agricultural Resources) on Tuesday as an AI-powered multilingual platform to support farmers with real-time agricultural information. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will inaugurate the tool in Jaipur. The government aims to help farmers make better decisions by delivering advisory services directly through mobile platforms and phone calls in their own languages.

Bharat-VISTAAR will function as a 24/7 digital agriculture expert and will offer services in two modes. The platform includes a talking AI assistant named Bharati, which farmers can access by dialing 155261. This system will allow farmers to ask questions and receive guidance anytime, making agricultural knowledge more accessible, especially for those with limited internet access.

The AI tool will provide information on crop planning, farming practices, pest management, weather forecasts, market trends, and government schemes. Farmers will also receive details about eligibility, application procedures, and grievance redressal. In addition, the system will send alerts related to weather conditions and pest outbreaks to help farmers reduce risks.

Bharat-VISTAAR Integrates Multiple Agriculture Portals

After the launch, farmers will be able to access information on major central schemes such as PM-KISAN, PM Fasal Bima Yojana, Soil Health Card, Modified Interest Subvention Scheme, Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanisation, Per Drop More Crop, PM Krishi Sinchayee Yojana, PM Annadata Aay Sanrakshan Abhiyan, Agriculture Infrastructure Fund, and the Kisan Credit Card scheme. The platform will integrate multiple government portals to create a single source of agricultural information.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced Bharat-VISTAAR in the Union Budget 2026-27 and allocated ₹150 crore for the project in the next financial year. She said the platform will integrate AgriStack portals and ICAR agricultural practice packages with AI systems to improve productivity, support informed decision-making, and reduce farming risks through customized advisory services.

The government described Bharat-VISTAAR as a national digital backbone that connects central and state agricultural systems while maintaining state autonomy. The platform will evolve through collaboration with non-profit organizations, AI startups, technology companies, and AI Centres of Excellence. Officials also said the system will collect farmer feedback and feed it back into government systems to support evidence-based policymaking and agricultural research.
