Amid global uncertainties, cooperation between India and ASEAN continues to make progress, demonstrating their strong relationship. PM Modi highlights ASEAN’s significance in ensuring every voice is heard and its pivotal role in global growth.

The theme of India’s G-20 Presidency echoes the sentiment of “one earth, one family, one future.”

ASEAN-India dialogue started as a sectoral partnership in 1992 and evolved into a full dialogue partnership in 1995.It further advanced to a summit-level partnership in 2002 and a strategic partnership in 2012.

ASEAN comprises ten member countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. India-ASEAN ties have witnessed significant growth, with a focus on trade, investment, security, and defense cooperation.

PM Modi underscores the importance of a rules-based order for a post-COVID world, advocating the Indo-Pacific’s openness. He highlights the role of ASEAN in India’s Act East Policy, emphasizing their shared values and regional unity.
