Amitabh Bachchan’s “Bharat Mata” Post Causes Internet Split Amid G20 Invite Hype

Amidst opposition criticism of the dinner invitation’s reference to the “President of Bharat,” Amitabh Bachchan’s comment emerged.

Amitabh Bachchan’s online post created a rift among internet users,drawing connections to a recent political dispute involving G20 dinner invitation.

A post from Amitabh Bachchan triggered online division, connected to the ongoing political dispute involving a G20 dinner invitation.

“Bharat Mata Ki Jai (victory to Mother India),” Mr Bachchan posted on X, formerly Twitter, this afternoon, a remark that came amid an opposition uproar over the dinner invite mentioning “President of Bharat”.

It is the first time this term has been used replacing the traditional “President of India” in an official invite. Officials say this is the first such change in Indian nomenclature for any official event.

Some commented “Bharat” while others wrote “India” under BigB’s post, taking sides in what has emerged as the latest flashpoint between the centre and opposition camp.

Officials pointed out that the Constitution mentions the term “Bharat.” Article 1 of the Constitution declares, “India, that is Bharat, shall be a Union of States.”

President Droupadi Murmu sent the invitation to foreign leaders and chief ministers participating in the weekend G20 summit in Delhi. The mega event will include US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and other global leaders.

This triggered a war of words between the BJP and opposition parties,who questioned the need for a change in nomenclature.

Mr Bachchan, also known as BigB, is among Indian Cinema’s tallest figures. Jaya Bachchan, Amitabh Bachchan’s wife, holds the position of Member of Parliament representing the Samajwadi Party, a key member of the opposition alliance known as INDIA. Amitabh Bachchan’s spouse,Jaya Bachchan, is an MP from the Samajwadi Party and a significant figure in the INDIA opposition alliance.
