Kohli skips first two England Tests

Renowned Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has opted out of the initial two Tests against England, citing ‘personal reasons,’ as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in a statement on Monday. The BCCI, yet to designate a replacement for Kohli, expressed support for his decision. This follows Kohli’s earlier withdrawal from the first T20I against Afghanistan for similar reasons, with the nature of his personal-circumstances undisclosed.

The BCCI statement revealed that Kohli had communicated with Captain Rohit Sharma, team management, and selectors, emphasizing that while representing the country remained a top priority, specific personal situations necessitated his focused attention. The BCCI urged respect for Kohli’s privacy and called for refraining from speculation. The Men’s Selection Committee will soon announce a replacement.
