Shivam Dube credited his recent bowling improvement to the guidance and support he received from head coach Gautam Gambhir, bowling coach Morne Morkel, and captain Suryakumar Yadav, as he continued to step up in Hardik Pandya’s absence during the T20I series. He consistently delivered impactful spells in crucial phases, especially during India’s unbeaten Asia Cup run, where he bowled key overs in the middle and provided important breakthroughs.

Shivam Dube Bowling Performance Improved
Dube showcased his maturity in the fourth T20I against Australia by claiming decisive wickets that shifted the momentum in India’s favour. He conceded a towering six to Tim David during the 12th over, yet he maintained focus and dismissed the Australian batter on the very next ball with a sharp 122kph short delivery. He exploited David’s early shot selection and delivered the ball straight to Suryakumar Yadav, who completed a simple catch. Before this, Dube used a clever slower ball to unsettle Australian captain Mitchell Marsh, forcing him to hit directly to Arshdeep Singh, which accelerated Australia’s collapse to 119 in 18.2 overs.
Coaching Support and Strategic Planning
Dube emphasized that the planning and encouragement from Gambhir, Morkel, and Suryakumar helped him grow as a bowler and execute strategies with confidence. He explained that Gambhir motivated him by asking him to bowl fearlessly and assured him of the team management’s full backing. Morkel also contributed by offering technical insights that refined his bowling and helped him correct previous inconsistencies. Dube stated that their clear guidance on line, length, and approach enabled him to perform more effectively under pressure.
All-Round Contributions and Rising Confidence
Before delivering an impressive bowling spell of 2/20, Dube was promoted to number three and scored a valuable 22 off 18 balls, helping India post a defendable total of 167/8. His ability to contribute with both bat and ball has started shaping him into a reliable seam-bowling all-rounder. He is emerging as a player capable of thriving in varied conditions, especially in countries like South Africa, which will host the 2027 World Cup.
Focus on Upcoming T20 World Cup
When asked about preparing for the 2027 World Cup, Dube clarified that he is currently focused only on next year’s T20 World Cup, which India will host. He mentioned that long-term goals can wait, as his primary aim is to help India defend their title through consistent performances in the shortest format. He reiterated that his immediate priority remains the T20 format, where he wants to continue improving as a dependable all-rounder.
