Sarfaraz Khan Outshines CSK’s Rs 28 Crore Duo

Sarfaraz Khan has emerged as the biggest positive for Chennai Super Kings in the early stage of IPL 2026. While the franchise spent heavily on big-name players during the auction, Sarfaraz has delivered the strongest performances despite arriving for just Rs 75 lakh.

After the first three matches, Sarfaraz has become CSK’s highest run-scorer with 99 runs. He has maintained an average of 33 and scored at an impressive strike rate above 200. His performances have surprised many fans because most people consider him a red-ball specialist.

Sarfaraz Becomes CSK’s Most Valuable Batter

Sarfaraz Khan has shown maturity, confidence and smart shot selection in the middle order. He has handled pressure situations well and accelerated the scoring rate whenever the team needed quick runs.

His performances have become even more important because CSK’s top order has struggled in the first few matches. Sarfaraz has managed the middle overs effectively and has played spin bowling with great confidence.

Many experts expected him to play only a supporting role in the squad. However, he has quickly become one of the most important batters for the team. His consistent performances have also raised questions about why other franchises ignored him during the auction.

Expensive CSK Stars Yet To Deliver

While Sarfaraz has impressed everyone, two expensive CSK signings have failed to justify their price tags so far. Kartik Sharma, who joined the team for Rs 14.20 crore, has scored only 25 runs in three matches.

Similarly, Prashant Veer has not fully contributed despite costing the franchise another Rs 14.20 crore. He has scored 49 runs in two games, but the team has not used him as a bowler yet.

CSK had expected Prashant Veer to provide balance after the departure of Ravindra Jadeja. However, his limited role has raised concerns about the team’s planning and auction strategy.

The current situation clearly shows that a higher auction price does not always guarantee better performances. At the moment, CSK are depending more on their cheapest signing while their costly stars continue to struggle.
