“Rizwan Thinks…”: Former India Opener Ridicules Pakistan Captain for Unrealistic Remarks

The highly anticipated India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy clash in Dubai ended up being a one-sided encounter. Powered by a brilliant century from Virat Kohli. India delivered a dominant performance, defeating their rivals by six wickets and securing their second consecutive victory in the ICC tournament. Which is being held for the first time since 2017.

India Spin Trio Dominates Pakistan

India’s spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel bowled a total of 26 overs. Conceding only 129 runs while taking five wickets. Their crucial efforts helped restrict Pakistan to a modest total of 241 all out in 49.4 overs.

During the post-match media interaction. Captain Mohammad Rizwan was asked about Pakistan’s lack of options in the spin department when compared to India.

However, Rizwan felt that even India have a one frontline spinner in Kuldeep while Jadeja and Axar are more of allrounders.

“If you look at that Indian team also they have Kuldeep as the front-line spinner. Jadeja is like an rounder, Axar Patel is like a rounder. We also have Salman Ali Agha – he bowled very well in other countries as well and Khushdil Shah, they bowled very well like in the past,” said Rizwan.

“Pakistan skipper Rizwan believes that Salman Agha and Khushdil Shah are of the same quality (as bowlers) as Jadeja and Axar. You can’t make these things up,” Chopra posted on X.

“Delulu Is The Only Sululu. Please stay like this, Pakistan. Even though matches are one-sided…Pakistan’s meme game and cricket content is top-class after the loss,” he added.

Pakistan had one frontline spinner in Abrar Ahmed and his 10 overs resulted in bowling figures of 1/28.

When asked if the defending champions could’ve included another specialist spinner in the eleven, Rizwan disagreed.

Rizwan expressed his views on team composition, stating, “An ODI team cannot have five specialist bowlers. Our frontline bowlers include Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, and Abrar. If you look at New Zealand, their fifth bowler is all-rounder Michael Bracewell, while India relies on Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja. The selectors have provided us with the best possible players, including Khushdil Shah and Salman Agha, who can bat at positions 7-8 and contribute with the ball. A combination of five specialist bowlers and six pure batters is not ideal for ODIs. There may be debates about whether an additional spinner would have been beneficial, but in T20Is, using five genuine bowlers is feasible, whereas ODIs require a different approach due to the longer format.”
