PSG Maintain Ligue 1 Lead Despite Goalless Draw and Desire Doue’s Injury

PSG held onto the Ligue 1 summit on Wednesday despite a 1-1 draw against Lorient. Star forward Desire Doue suffered a right thigh injury during the second half, creating concern ahead of their Champions League clash with Bayern Munich next week. The 20-year-old had only recently regained full fitness after being injured while playing for France in September.

PSG Suffer Blow as Desire Doue Injured

Desire Doue collapsed in pain around the 60th minute and was carried off the field. His injury raised immediate doubts about his availability for the upcoming Bayern Munich match on November 4. Doue, who scored twice in PSG’s 7-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, left the stadium on crutches and avoided putting weight on his right leg. Coach Luis Enrique expressed concern, saying, “It’s always bad news when there are injuries. I hope it’s not serious.”

Enrique Admits Team’s Poor Performance

Despite Nuno Mendes giving PSG a lead in the 49th minute, Igor Silva quickly equalized for Lorient. Luis Enrique didn’t hide his disappointment after the draw. He admitted, “We didn’t deserve to win; we played a poor match. It’s a shame because we need points and must stay focused for 90 minutes.” PSG’s performance reflected inconsistency despite maintaining their place at the top of the table.

PSG remained first only because Marseille were held to a 2-2 draw by bottom-placed Angers. Angers took an early lead before Robinio Vaz’s double seemed to rescue Marseille, but Ousmane Camara’s injury-time equalizer changed the outcome. Monaco climbed to second with a thrilling 5-3 win over Nantes, reducing the gap to just one point.

Mixed Results Across the League

Elsewhere in Ligue 1, Lens slipped to sixth after losing 2-0 to Metz, who secured their first win of the season. Nice beat Lille 2-0 at home, while Le Havre edged Brest 1-0. Paris FC and Lyon played out a 3-3 thriller, and Strasbourg jumped to fourth with a dominant 3-0 victory over Auxerre.
