Following their eight-wicket loss to India at Raipur on Saturday, New Zealand slipped to No. 2 in the ICC men’s ODI team rankings, allowing England to surpass them. On January 21, India easily defeated New Zealand, days after they played out a thrilling match in Hyderabad. With this, they have dropped out of the top spot in the ODI standings and lost the series. The ODI Team Rankings chart currently has England as the top-ranked team.
Prior to this match, New Zealand held the top spot with 115 rating points, followed by England in second place with 113 rating points. India came in fourth with 111 rating points, while Australia came in third with 112 ratings.
With 113 rating points and 3166 total points, New Zealand is now in second place after losing to India by an eight-wicket margin. With 113 rating points each, England and India are rated first and third, respectively.
Following an exciting victory in Hyderbad, India easily defeated Pakistan in Raipur. In the first few overs, the fast bowlers destroyed the Kiwis, bringing them down to 15/5 in just 11 overs. The visitors were saved from embarrassment by Glenn Phillips (36), Michael Bracewell (22) and Mitchell Santner (27) but they were eventually hustled out for 108.
Rohit Sharma contributed to India’s easy victory in the chase by scoring fifty runs for the team.
