Dhoni’s 0.12-Second Stumping Stuns Cricket World

MS Dhoni’s lightning-fast reflexes behind the stumps stunned Suryakumar Yadav during an IPL match, leaving former Australian cricketer Matthew Hayden in awe. Despite being 43 and nearing the end of his career, Dhoni continues to showcase exceptional wicketkeeping skills. Having retired from international cricket five years ago, he now plays solely as a player for Chennai Super Kings, the franchise he led to five IPL titles. His ability to execute swift stumpings proves he remains a crucial asset to his team, even though he is past his prime.

However, Dhoni displayed his brilliance once again on Sunday by swiftly stumping Suryakumar Yadav off Noor Ahmad’s delivery.

“He (Dhoni) was on fire,” Hayden, the former Australia batter and Dhoni’s team-mate at CSK till 2010, said on ESPNcricinfo’s T20 Time Out.

“I mean, Noor Ahmad was delivering down the leg side, and Dhoni just moved across. Such deliveries are tricky, especially with the batsman partially obstructing the view.”

“The stumping was outstanding—lightning-fast reflexes, sharp hands, and excellent vision. Dhoni still has it.” Dismissing Suryakumar (29) was a turning point as CSK broke a 51-run partnership and restricted Mumbai Indians to 155/9. CSK successfully chased the target, winning with four wickets in hand and five balls to spare at Chepauk.

“Noor praised Dhoni’s stumping, calling it ‘out of this world’ during the post-match presentation. ‘Having Mahi Bhai behind the stumps is an incredible support for me,’ he added. According to Star Sports, the stumping took just 0.12 seconds.”
