Marquez Targets MotoGP Triumph, Seeks Final Three-Tenths

In the final pre-season testing in Qatar, Marc Marquez, the eight-time Grand Prix world champion, concluded Tuesday in the fourth position, closely trailing the pace-setting factory Ducati rider Francesco Bagnaia. Despite a minor setback with a crash, Marquez remains optimistic about the progress made with his new Gresini Ducati GP23.

During the testing, Marquez pushed the limits of his bike, resulting in a crash – a consequence of exploring the boundaries and understanding the capabilities of the GP23. Commenting on the incident, Marquez acknowledged the importance of finding the bike’s limits, stating, “It’s always in racing we say the last three-tenths are the most difficult ones, and this is now what I am looking for.”

Analyzing his pre-season performance, Marquez emphasized the need to push beyond his comfort zone and explore the bike’s capabilities in the pursuit of those elusive last tenths. He mentioned, “Until now, I was riding very smoothly and consistently but never attacked in the last tenths. So, it’s where I am now, I’m two, three-tenths, even four sometimes, behind the top guys. And now I have to understand how to be closer.”

Despite the crash, Marquez expressed satisfaction with the progress made, highlighting the importance of taking measured steps with the new bike. He noted that there are at least three riders currently faster than him, singling out Jorge Martin, Francesco Bagnaia, and Enea Bastianini.
