Charles Leclerc admitted he “never expected” to finish third at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, calling his first podium of the season a proud moment. However, he acknowledged Ferrari still have work to do to compete at the front.
Leclerc Reflects on Qualifying Struggles and Race Strategy Success
Leclerc had been feeling down after Saturday’s qualifying session, expressing his disappointment at not being able to challenge for a spot in the top three. The 27-year-old had hoped for a stronger performance but found himself unable to extract the full potential from the car, leaving him frustrated ahead of the race.
However, Sunday’s race presented a different story. Leclerc opted for a long opening stint on the medium tyres, before making the switch to the hards on Lap 30 of 50. This strategy paid off, as he found himself in third place once all the frontrunners had pitted. Despite pressure from Lando Norris in the final stages, Leclerc held his ground and managed to secure his first podium of the season.
