Jaiswal launches firm defence of Shubman Gill after Shastri, Gavaskar’s attack over Bumrah call: ‘He’s very clear’

Yashasvi Jaiswal commended Shubman Gill for his clarity in leadership and expressed the team’s confidence under his captaincy. The young Indian opener praised Gill’s performance with the bat and his role as the newly appointed captain, as India took command at stumps on the opening day of the Edgbaston Test.

Gill Leads from the Front with Another Century as Jaiswal Praises His Clarity and Leadership

Shubman led the team from the front once again and slammed back-to-back centuries in the series as India put up a fight in the second Test after a shaky start. Jaiswal also stood up on the occasion and set up the foundation with his 87-run knock. Gill (114 not out) also shared a crucial 66-run stand with Jaiswal for the third wicket to stabilise the innings after KL Rahul and Karun Nair failed to score big. After the day’s play, Jaiswal spoke highly of Gill, saying the newly appointed skipper is clear with his thoughts and the team is confident.

Opener Lauds Gill’s Leadership as India Makes Key Changes for Second Test

Jaiswal praised Gill’s outstanding form, saying, “He’s batting amazingly; it’s incredible to watch him. As a captain, he’s been brilliant too. He knows exactly what he wants to do with the team, and we’re all very confident about our plans. We’re just giving it our best.” For the second Test, India made three changes to their playing XI. They rested star pacer Jasprit Bumrah as part of a pre-planned workload management strategy, limiting him to three of the five matches. Along with Bumrah, the team also left out Shardul Thakur and Sai Sudharsan.
