Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), while chasing a target of 182, faced heavy pressure in the final overs, but Mukul Choudhary’s calm mindset and powerful hitting shifted the momentum decisively. At Eden Gardens on Thursday, Choudhary revealed that his main focus during the chase was to stay at the crease until the end—a strategy that ultimately secured LSG a thrilling last-ball victory over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2026 match. He said that despite the pressure, he viewed the situation as an opportunity to prove himself in only his second IPL appearance.
As the chase grew tense, Choudhary took charge with fearless shots, turning the game in LSG’s favor. He smashed vital sixes in the death overs, including two massive hits in the final over, to seal the win. After being awarded Player of the Match for his unbeaten 54 off 27 balls, he credited his composed approach. Choudhary said he simply concentrated on taking the match deep and making the most of his chance. He expressed gratitude for getting such an opportunity so early in his career.
Choudhary also shared the emotional story behind his cricketing journey. He said his father dreamed of seeing his son become a cricketer even before he got married. Growing up in Sikkim, he struggled due to the lack of top-quality academies and had to travel to Delhi and Gurugram to improve his skills. He recalled a low-scoring U19 match against Uttar Pradesh where he made an important contribution, and his father predicted at that moment that he would achieve something big in cricket.

Choudhary Talks About His Six-Hitting Style
The young batter also spoke about his natural aggressive style. He highlighted how special it felt to hit his first six of the tournament after going two matches without any maximums. Choudhary said he remained confident that at least one delivery would fall into his hitting zone, and he waited patiently for it. He added that from childhood he enjoyed lofted shots and preferred clearing the ropes rather than playing conventional ground strokes.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant showered praise on Choudhary’s outstanding performance. Pant said he noticed the youngster’s striking ability in practice and felt amazed when Choudhary produced the same brilliance in the actual match. The skipper said Choudhary’s maturity and power under pressure left him speechless. He described the effort as “fantastic” and said it proved the youngster’s strong character.
Pant also emphasized the value of trust within the team setup. He said that as captain, he ensures that every player receives full backing from both him and the management. Pant added that the team is slowly building something special, as different players keep stepping up in each match. With this victory, LSG secured their second win of the season after beating KKR. The team will now prepare to face the Gujarat Titans on Sunday at their home venue, Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
