Mayank Agarwal, the Indian cricketer, narrowly averted a major crisis by inadvertently ingesting a toxic substance, mistakenly believing it to be water during a Tuesday flight from Agartala to Delhi. Swiftly hospitalized in Agartala, he received intensive care. Suspecting a potential conspiracy, Agarwal lodged an FIR with the police, though investigations are still in progress. On Wednesday, he utilized social media to provide an health update.
“I am feeling better now. Gearing to come back. Thank you for prayers, love and support, everyone!,” Mayank’s post read.
The Karnataka Ranji team manager reported on Wednesday that Mayank is in stable condition and they are arranging for his transportation to Bengaluru. Mayank was hospitalized on Tuesday due to nausea and vomiting. During a flight, he ingested a liquid from a bottle, thinking it was potable water.
Ramesh, the Ranji team-manager for Karnataka-State-Cricket-Association(KCA), informed ANI that the police are currently recording the statement of the Karnataka skipper.
Ramesh stated, “Mayank Agarwal is now out of danger, and the police are currently recording his statement. We are taking him to Bengaluru today, although we don’t have detailed information on this matter.”
Earlier, Basudeb-Chakraborty,the working secretary of the Tripura-Cricket-Association(TCA),mentioned that Mayank felt unwell after consuming liquid from a bottle during the flight.
“We sent TCA staff to the hospital and they conveyed that there was a bottle, Mayank drank it assuming that it was water and after drinking it he felt acidic and it gave a burning sensation,” Basudeb told ANI.
The flight to Delhi returned to Agartala due to a medical emergency.
According to ESPNcricinfo, the Karnataka team-manager, on behalf of Agarwal, has also requested the Tripura police to investigate the incident.
They have submitted a written complaint to K Kiran Kumar,Superintendent-of-Police(Tripura West),and the New Capital Complex Police-Station in Agartala has registered a case.
