Charles Leclerc overtook Max Verstappen three times on track for a brilliant and long-overdue win at the Austrian GP. With Lewis Hamilton third as Ferrari’s celebratory mood was dented by Carlos Sainz’s dramatic engine fire.
With the win, the 24-year-old Ferrari driver has revived his title hopes. He cut his counterpart Verstappen’s championship lead to 38 points. Leclerc is now in the second place in the standings ahead of Red Bulls’ Sergio Perez.
During the concluding phase of the race, Leclerc complained to his team on the radio about the sticking accelerator which also affected the gearbox. However, the Ferrari driver maintained his composure to bring his first win since the Australian GP.
