BCCI Reaffirms Support for Rohit and Kohli

Rajeev Shukla stated that the BCCI fully backs Rohit and Kohli’s continued presence in the ODI setup. He said both players remain crucial for India’s plans ahead of the 2027 World Cup. “Their experience and form make a big difference against strong teams like Australia,” he said. Shukla dismissed all claims of this being their last series, calling such reports “absolutely wrong and baseless.”

Rohit Sharma has scored over 11,000 ODI runs at an average close to 49. His 32 centuries and record-breaking 264 remain unmatched. Virat Kohli, India’s second-highest run-scorer, has amassed more than 14,000 ODI runs at an average near 58. Both players have retired from Tests and T20Is but continue to anchor India’s ODI team. They will feature in the upcoming ODI series in Australia starting October 19.

Shubman Gill’s Leadership Earns Praise from BCCI

Shukla congratulated Shubman Gill for leading India to a 2-0 Test series win over the West Indies. He said the victory came at the perfect time before the challenging Australian tour. “Beating West Indies before facing Australia boosts confidence,” Shukla noted. He added that Gill’s leadership, combined with the experience of Rohit and Kohli, strengthens India’s chances of success abroad.

India dominated the series against the West Indies with both bat and ball. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 175 and Shubman Gill’s unbeaten 129 guided India to a massive total. Kuldeep Yadav claimed eight wickets, earning the ‘Player of the Match’ award. Ravindra Jadeja’s all-round brilliance won him the ‘Player of the Series’ trophy. With this win, India has regained momentum ahead of their high-stakes clash against Australia.
