The BCCI’s senior men’s selection committee, led by former fast bowler Ajit Agarkar, has reportedly finalized a 14-member Indian squad for the opening Test against the England Lions, starting on May 30. Although the revised IPL schedule posed unexpected challenges, The Indian Express reports that Agarkar and his team have decided to field two separate India A squads for the two-match series. Since the Rajasthan Royals are already out of playoff contention, the selectors have included Yashasvi Jaiswal India’s confirmed opener for the upcoming five-Test series against England in the first India A squad.

Ishan Kishan Set for India A Return, Faces Wicketkeeping Duel with Dhruv Jurel
Another big name expected to play in the first India A match is Ishan Kishan. The left-handed wicketkeeper-batter returns to the squad after a year and a half, as Sunrisers Hyderabad have exited the tournament. Kishan will compete for the keeper’s spot with Dhruv Jurel, who featured in the India Test squad during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both Kishan and Jurel are likely to be included in the India A XI for the first match, with one of them taking the field as a specialist batter.
