Vinesh Phogat Rejects PM Modi’s Call After Olympics, Cites Conditions

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who retired after being disqualified from the Paris 2024 Olympics, declined to speak with PM Modi over political concerns. She is now a Congress candidate for Julana in Haryana.

Vinesh Phogat said she refused PM Modi’s call due to conditions: her team couldn’t be present, and their team would record it for social media.

Phogat expressed that she would have valued a sincere call from the prime minister without the requirement to publicize it.

“She said if he genuinely cared about athletes, he could have called without recording, and she believes Modi’s office set conditions to control the narrative.”

“Maybe he knew I’d ask about the last two years, so they denied my call since they could edit the video.”
