Vijay Drops Full Security Protocol As Swearing-In Faces Delay

TVK chief Vijay requested authorities to withdraw his full security convoy after delays affected his swearing-in ceremony as Tamil Nadu’s chief minister. Police officials confirmed that they will continue providing him with basic pilot security.

Vijay Protocol Shift Amid Swearing-In Delay

The move came after visuals showed Vijay travelling without the usual high-security convoy, sparking speculation over changes in his status as chief minister-designate. Officials clarified that the government usually provides such protocol convoys to incoming chief ministers to ensure smooth public movement and security arrangements.

The swearing-in ceremony, expected earlier this week, has been postponed because TVK still lacks enough numbers to prove a majority. Although Congress extended support with five MLAs, the party still needs backing from at least six more legislators to cross the majority mark.

Sources said TVK is currently negotiating with parties like the VCK, CPI, and CPM to secure additional support. Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Governor reportedly asked Vijay to submit a list of 118 supporting MLAs before moving ahead with government formation.
