In May, $141 million was reportedly raised by Donald Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee. This enormous sum of money includes tens of millions of dollars raised following his guilty conviction in his criminal hush money prosecution.

The Federal Election Commission will not receive a public disclosure of Trump’s campaign’s fundraising until later this month. However, the fact that it chose to make the statistics public ahead of schedule demonstrates how it views the surge in contributions as proof that the previous Thursday’s verdict has galvanised the president’s supporters and as a signal that it won’t impede his attempts to win reelection.

Biden’s Fundraising Lags Behind Trump’s in April
The campaign of President Joe Biden has not yet disclosed its own May fundraising totals. For the first time, Trump and the Republican Party claimed to have raised $76 million in April, surpassing the more than $51 million that Biden and the Democratic National Committee reported raising in the same month.

Fundraising Haul Offers Trump Hope of Closing Money Gap with Biden
How much Trump and the GOP spent in May is unknown. But the amount might enable them to narrow the financial deficit they have maintained with Biden over the campaign.

In a press release on Monday, Trump’s campaign stated that it had received over two million donations in May, with each donation costing an average of $70.27. It stated that in the 24 hours following the verdict’s announcement, online contributions accounted for more than one-third of the total haul, or 37.6%.
