Sonia Gandhi moving to Rajya Sabha, will file nomination from Rajasthan

After a high-level meeting of party leaders on Monday, attended by Mallikarjun Kharge, Mukul Wasnik, Ajay Maken, Salman Khurshid, and KC Venugopal, indications arose that Sonia Gandhi may transition to the upper house, marking her first departure from electoral contests. Despite Himachal Pradesh being an option, reports suggest Gandhi opted for. She won in 1999 from Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi and Karnataka’s Bellary, later retaining Amethi. In 2004, Gandhi contested from Rae Bareli, making way for Rahul. Should Sonia Gandhi join the Rajya Sabha, she would become the second member of the Gandhi family to hold a seat therein.
