Rekha Gupta Demands Action Against AAP MLA Over Viral Video

Rekha Gupta said elected representatives should maintain proper decorum while interacting with citizens, particularly women seeking government services. She criticised Vats for appearing in what she called objectionable attire while handling documents related to the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. Gupta also demanded the cancellation of his Assembly membership over the alleged indecent conduct. She further accused the AAP MLA of making obscene gestures during the Assembly session. AAP legislators protested against her remarks during the proceedings.

Anil Jha Vats rejected the Chief Minister’s allegations and challenged her to provide video evidence of him making inappropriate gestures. He said Gupta had failed to address people’s concerns and was instead making allegations against him. Vats maintained that the claims against him were politically motivated. The controversy intensified after the video circulated widely on social media. The MLA’s response has added another dimension to the political dispute.

Anil Jha Vats Denies Allegations As Delhi Lakshmi Yojana Row Escalates

The incident reportedly occurred while Vats was helping people with registrations for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana. The Delhi government launched the scheme on August 1 to provide eligible women with financial assistance of ₹2,500 per month. Officials said the scheme received more than 5.14 lakh registrations within its first seven days. More than 2.18 lakh applications had also been submitted during the period. The government has highlighted the response as a sign of strong public interest.

The controversy has triggered a fresh political confrontation between the Delhi government and the AAP. Rekha Gupta described the MLA’s alleged conduct as unacceptable and called for action against him. Vats, however, has denied the allegations and questioned the basis of the Chief Minister’s claims. The dispute unfolded amid protests by AAP MLAs inside the Assembly. The matter has since attracted attention following the circulation of the viral video.
