Rajasthan Congress

Rajasthan Congress leaders will work together for party’s victory

On Thursday, the Congress declared that it can win the Rajasthan Assembly elections later this year if there is perfect unanimity. It also threatened harsh punishment for anyone who do not maintain discipline and speak outside of the party forum. Sachin Pilot, the former deputy of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, stated that the party’s MPs and functionaries will cooperate to achieve the party’s electoral success despite the party declining to comment on any potential reconciliation plan between the two.

After the meeting, Pilot stated, “There was a significant debate on how to buck trend of voting out incumbent government in Rajasthan. The meeting was called by the party leadership here to review the poll readiness. With an open mind, we discussed all the concerns, and everyone voiced confidence that we could replicate the Rajasthani administration.

Poll fight on corruption

Pilot raised corruption issues during the previous BJP government in state paper leaks and Rajasthan Public Service Commission reform. The party will make corruption an election issue in Rajasthan, he added. He expressed satisfaction with the party leadership’s attention to these issues and youth concerns. The Rajasthan government is serious about combating corruption. All India Congress Committee general secretary K C Venugopal announced that ministers, MLAs, and leaders will visit the people to discuss state government schemes. The party’s campaign will begin on Friday.

The power tussle

When the Congress took control as the Rajasthan state’s new government in 2018, a power struggle between Gehlot and Pilot began. Pilot organised a coup against the Gehlot administration in 2020, and as a result, he lost his position as state unit president and deputy chief minister of the party. Pilot had last month disregarded a warning from the party and carried out a day-long fast intended to criticise Gehlot for his “inaction” on alleged corruption under the previous Raje administration.
