On July 30, Congress MP Alfred Arthur from Outer Manipur delivered. A strong critique of the Union government, particularly targeting the recent Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Arthur described the Budget as “anti-people” and argued that it demonstrated a lack of understanding of Manipur’s dire situation. He highlighted that the state has been suffering from ongoing ethnic conflicts and consecutive floods. Which have resulted in a low per capita income and high inflation.
In an emotionally charged speech, Arthur implored Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister. Amit Shah to personally visit Manipur to witness the situation firsthand. He expressed his frustration with the government’s inaction and questioned why Chief Minister N. Biren Singh had not yet been removed from office despite the persistent turmoil.
