Following their victories in the recent assembly elections, BJP MPs Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh have submitted their resignations. On Friday, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla approved the resignation of BJP Members of Parliament Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh. Balaknath, who previously represented Rajasthan’s Alwar constituency, resigned following his successful assembly election in Tijara, Rajasthan.
Renuka Singh, the Member of Parliament representing Surguja in Chhattisgarh, emerged victorious in the assembly election for the Bharatpur-Sonhat constituency. The tally of resignations within the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has now reached 12 MPs who stepped down following their triumphs in various assembly polls. This figure comprises 11 Members of Parliament from the Lok Sabha and one from the Rajya Sabha.
The list of resigning MPs includes individuals such as Narendra Singh Tomar, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap Singh, and Riti Pathak from Madhya Pradesh. Additionally, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, and Kirori Lal Meena, who holds a Rajya Sabha seat, resigned from Rajasthan, while Arun Sao and Gomti Sai stepped down in Chhattisgarh. This significant number of resignations reflects the political shifts occurring at both the state and national levels within the BJP.
