Nitish Kumar’s Rajya Sabha Decision Triggers Unease In JD(U), Leaders Seek Review

Leaders and workers of the Nitish Kumar-led Janata Dal (United) have begun voicing unease after the Bihar Chief Minister decided to enter the Rajya Sabha. The move has triggered intense political activity across Bihar, with many party members questioning what it could mean for the future leadership of the party and the state government. Critics within the party believe that Kumar’s decision has created uncertainty among supporters and raised doubts about the direction the party will take in the coming months.

Reports indicate that protests and demonstrations have erupted at several locations as party workers urge the leadership to reconsider the decision. Many workers say the move has confused loyal supporters and the general public who associate the party’s electoral success with Kumar’s leadership. The growing discontent has drawn attention to the internal discussions within the party as leaders attempt to manage the concerns of grassroots members and maintain unity.

Amid the controversy, JD(U)’s chief spokesperson Neeraj Kumar openly acknowledged the concerns raised by party workers. He emphasized that party workers played a crucial role in building the organization and therefore deserve to have their voices heard. According to him, the leadership must carefully address these concerns and work toward a solution. However, he also clarified that only Nitish Kumar can decide whether he will reconsider his decision to move to the Rajya Sabha.

Leadership Uncertainty Raises Questions Within NDA

Neeraj Kumar also pointed out that the development has sparked questions among party leaders, workers, and voters about the future political direction of the party. He reminded everyone that the National Democratic Alliance secured a strong mandate in Bihar largely because of Nitish Kumar’s leadership and public image. As a result, many supporters now feel uneasy about the sudden shift in his political role. According to him, the move has created a sense of mistrust among sections of party workers and the public who expected him to continue leading the state government.

The spokesperson further said that the party must clarify who will carry forward Nitish Kumar’s political legacy if he transitions to the Rajya Sabha. He added that any decision regarding Kumar’s son Nishant Kumar or any other potential leader will ultimately depend on Nitish Kumar himself. Political observers interpret these remarks as a clear indication that uncertainty has started to grow within the party’s ranks about future leadership arrangements.

Meanwhile, the opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal has strongly reacted to the development. Party spokesperson Mrityunjay Tiwari alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party is pushing Nitish Kumar toward the Rajya Sabha so it can install its own chief minister in Bihar. He claimed that the decision has angered several JD(U) legislators and warned that it could even trigger a major split within the party. Despite the ongoing controversy, Nitish Kumar has already filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat, and according to the election schedule, candidates can withdraw their nominations until March 9.
