Nitish Kumar has been re-elected unopposed as the president of Janata Dal (United) for the fifth time, highlighting his strong hold and continued trust within the party.

After the deadline for withdrawal of nominations ended, his was the only valid candidature left. Returning Officer Aneel Prasad Hegde formally declared him elected and scheduled the issuance of his election certificate at a press event in Delhi.
Senior leaders, including Sanjay Kumar Jha and Rajiv Ranjan Singh, stated that party workers and leaders collectively urged Nitish Kumar to continue at the helm. They described him as a guiding force who ensures stability and direction for the party.

Earlier, multiple leaders had filed nominations on his behalf, signaling unanimous internal support. Party members also expressed confidence that he will strengthen the organisation at the national level while continuing to oversee development in Bihar.
Meanwhile, KC Tyagi dismissed speculation of internal rifts, clarifying that his absence from the membership drive was not due to any disagreement and that his relationship with Nitish Kumar remains intact.
