MK Stalin Reacts to Tamil Nadu Assembly Drama Over Anna University Case

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin stated that his government will stand by the victim of the alleged sexual assault case at Anna University.MK Stalin reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring justice, highlighting the swift arrest of the accused.

During the Tamil Nadu assembly’s winter session, Stalin remarked, “While the name of the university has been mentioned, I won’t name it to avoid defaming it, as it has contributed to us. What happened to the student in Chennai is unacceptable. Sexual assault on a student is brutal.”

Stalin stated, “While all legislators, except one, have shown genuine concern on this issue, the one member has only spoken to damage the image of this government.”

Stalin slammed the opposition

Stalin criticized the opposition for politicizing the incident, emphasizing that the government’s primary focus was to support the victim and ensure justice through legal means.

He told the opposition, “You ask, ‘Who is that, sir?’ If you have any evidence, please share it with the SIT investigating the case. Don’t engage in petty actions for temporary political gains.”

Stalin added, “This government takes a firm stand against crimes against women. Some are attempting to use this isolated incident to suggest that women are unsafe, but the public will not accept this narrative.

In December, a second-year Anna University student allegedly faced sexual assault on campus. The police arrested the accused after the student filed a complaint, claiming that he threatened and assaulted her while she was conversing with a friend.

On Wednesday, AIADMK MLAs wore black shirts for the third consecutive day of the Tamil Nadu assembly session and raised the issue of the alleged sexual assault at Anna University. Several political parties have criticized the DMK government for its handling of the case, accusing it of taking slow action.
